Literacy rate in Telangana is second lowest in the country with 66.46% next only to Bihar with 63.82% and India Literacy rate is  74.04%. According to the 2011 census, Telangana's literacy rate is 66.46%. Male literacy and female literacy are 74.95% and 57.92% respectively. Shamirpet Lake or  Pedda Cheruvu  is an artificial lake built during the Nizam reign in 19th century.
