Situated on the Kadam River , the waterfall is about 13 km from NH44 and 40 km from Adilabad town . The cascade plunges from a height of 45 metres (approx. 148 feet) amidst the Sahyadri mountain range, surrounded by four reserve forests – Kuntala, Nagamalla, Sirichelma, and Rolmamda. The waterfall is actually a combination of two major falls: Devkanne (42 m) and Somanna (22 m) , with the highest point measuring 45 metres.
