A Perpetual Flame of Sacrifice: The Telangana Martyrs Memorial stands as a towering symbol of the sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought for the dream of a separate Telangana state. 📢 The Struggle for Telangana Statehood: The Telangana movement, which gained momentum in 1969, was a political struggle demanding the creation of a separate state of Telangana from the then united Andhra Pradesh. The agitation saw widespread participation from students, teachers, government employees, and the general public. The memorial was designed by M. Venkata Ramana Reddy, a sculptor and former JNTU Professor of Sculpture. 🏗️ Construction Details: Built with 1,600 tonnes of stainless steel, the elliptical-shaped structure has a major axis length of 54 metres and minor axis length of 37 metres. It stands 26 metres tall on one side and 18 metres tall on the other, with the flame rising an additional 26 metres from the terrace level. The total height of the lamp is 45 metres from ground level. The flame is made of carbon steel and can withstand wind speeds up to 130 km/h. [citation:4]
