Nagarkurnool History dates back to Asmaka Janapada. In olden times used to be part of Vardhamaanapuram current Nandi Vaddeman. According to Mahabharata literature, Maharshi Agastya Maharshi, established a shiva temple named “Agastheeswara Temple” on the banks of river Krishna (traceable to present day Kollapur division of the district) Current Nagarkurnool district is in the southern region of the Indian state of Telangana.The town of Nagarkurnool is the district headquarters. It was part of the Mahbubnagar district (Palamoor) prior to re-organisation of districts in the state.
